Lettuce, Moretons Secret Mix

This is a record of how long this particular set of seeds took to germinate and how they looked at various stages from first appearance to the development of the first set of true leaves and beyond. I hope this will prove useful.

Variety: Moretons Secret Mix (Real Seed Catalogue)
Sown indoors: 2nd April 2013
First Seedling: 6th April 2013
Germination: 4 days

The first few seedlings appear - interesting to see what type of lettuces these grow into (I love a surprise :))

There appear to be at least 4 varieties of lettuce through from this sowing but I only managed a decent shot of these. I will post the others when they are a bit bigger. I have sown a second batch of the mixed seed today.

…. meanwhile in the ‘abandoned’ seed tray which also houses the Giant Red Carrots and has, therefore, been watered during the week since I potted the lettuces up, another variety has show its’ face:

These really are a pretty blend of lettuces and I’m so glad I chose them. So here we are a nearly a month after the first seedling appeared.

These lettuces are growing beautifully and are starting to look very pretty. I have planted 14 of them into a tray which is filled with compost. These plants are now around 6 weeks old.

The lettuces have done really well in their tray, although I have had to cut a couple to allow the others more space. These lettuces area round 10 weeks old now:
