It’s been a trying and strange year for everyone on the planet with virtually the entire human population having to adjust to what has become known as ‘the new normal’. But even before Lockdown started way back in March, there had been dramatic but needed changes in the lives of myself and the Mudlets: Mud and I have parted company and I no longer live at Mudville!
Mid February of this year, the girls and I moved into a lovely furnished property, just a few miles from Mudville, and a new exciting chapter in my life started. The girls regularly spend time with Mud and have settled into OUR new normal, remarkably quickly.
It has been difficult though: 3 months of virtual house arrest was not quite what I had in mind when I envisaged the start of my new life but it gave me chance to add the little touches to our new home which has made it feel more like ours.
Based in an old school building, home is a characterful building which has been furnished to a very high standard. Our landlady is an amazing lady, kindness itself who looks after her tenants very well. She even bought new bedding especially for the girls to make them feel more at home: unicorns for the ever girly Little Mudlet and a lovely African print, featuring elephants, for Middle Mudlet. A sting of fairy lights for each of them and some carefully placed cushions and a throw each, completed the look.
Unfortunately, the new place doesn’t have a garden but the floor to ceiling windows meant that I was able to grow some tomatoes in the kitchen AND I have also been helping in the garden of the local school, so I am not totally bereft of gardening.
I have my own little car which was a forced necessity once practically ALL the commuter bus services, plus the Saturday service from our village, were cancelled when restrictions were lifted back in July. They have introduced a bookable bus service but with every previously bus dependent commuter trying to book on, it was becoming more and more difficult to get a booking for my morning commute and the prospect of taking to my bike again, especially along the very busy main road, was daunting and not one I was prepared to consider. To be honest it’s fantastic having my own little car and I have set up a savings account, in to which I pay a set amount each month which I hope will cover the cost of servicing and repairs.
With everything going on before and since we moved, the blog has taken a back seat and then some! Although I have missed writing my blog, to be honest I’m not entirely sure how to move forward with it ….. seeings how I am missing both a landrover and a garden! Over the next few weeks, I will start to archive the old stuff ….. I’m not quite ready just yet.

Similar life event over with us 😉 We have parted after 20ish years together. I found the change to be harder due to the pandemic and simultaneously easier due to the pandemic – a different life within a different life, instead of just having to adjust to a different life.
Wishing you all the best life possible!
